We are looking for an environmental engineer who wants to help drive environmental work in an industry facing significant changes. As part of our environmental team, you will work closely with the organization and contribute specialist expertise in the environmental field. Location: Luleå.
Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future and sustainability of our planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contributing to a green transition of the entire steel industry.
About the position
As an environmental engineer, you will belong to the Business Development department, Environmental section. We are responsible for permit and notification matters and continuously work to improve the environmental performance of the operations. Ahead of us lies an exciting mission: to drive environmental issues related to the development and transition of operations in Luleå over the coming years. Here you will have the opportunity to influence and make a real difference!
Your main responsibilities
- Support the line organization with specialist expertise in the environmental field.
- Manage permit and notification matters.
- Participate as an expert in projects within the environmental field.
- Be responsible for follow-up, analysis, calculations, and reporting.
- Drive investigations and studies.
- Assist in internal investigations of deviations and incidents.
About you
- You have a relevant university degree in, for example, environmental science, chemistry, process engineering, or natural sciences.
- You have experience in environmental-related tasks; experience in noise and/or carbon dioxide reporting is an advantage.
- You have knowledge of environmental legislation and permit processes.
- You are proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and can communicate clearly and simply.
- You have the ability to analyze and solve complex environmental issues.
- You have good communication skills and are accustomed to collaborating in teams.
- Experience from industry, government, or as a consultant is an advantage.
- We would like you to have knowledge of the tool Power-BI.
