Crematorium Technician at the Church of Sweden Helsingborg
Are you technically inclined, meticulous, and flexible? Are you confident in your values and want to work in a socially important organization where you can make a difference? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
About the Church of Sweden Helsingborg
The Helsingborg parish consists of three congregations, a burial service, and a broad support function with expertise in administration, HR, finance/payroll, IT, communication, booking, and property management. Together, the burial service is responsible for, among other things, burials, grave site allocations, grave administration, cremations, cemetery maintenance, and grave care services. Here we work closely with both life and death, regularly meeting people in grief, and with respect, we strive to make everything around as good as possible for everyone involved.
Job Responsibilities
In our crematorium, you will be part of a team of four dedicated crematorium technicians. You will be responsible for administration, grave site tours, urn burial, and chapel service during funerals. The main job responsibilities as a crematorium technician include:
- Managing the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of our crematorium facility.
- Administrative tasks such as receiving cremation orders and registering them in cremation journals.
- Collaborating with external parties, primarily funeral homes.
- Assisting with other common tasks within the service team as needed, such as preparing the chapel for funeral ceremonies, grave site tours, and burials. The position is located at the Helsingborg crematorium at the Crematorium Cemetery on the outskirts of Pålsjö Forest.
Qualifications
As a person, you have high integrity and handle both people and information in a respectful and ethical manner. Your values are well-founded and clear, and in critical situations at work, you are guided by these. In stressful or psychologically demanding situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. The job tasks require high precision and safety. Therefore, we place great importance on you being structured, self-driven, and quality-conscious, as well as meeting the standards required for the job.
Since part of the work involves collaborating with colleagues and external contacts, we are looking for someone who works well with others and sees good service as a given. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and see that you share the fundamental values of the Church of Sweden.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Completed secondary education with a technical focus
- Good IT and data skills
- Proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good physical condition as the work can be physically demanding
- Category B driving license
It is advantageous if you have any of the following:
- Training in combustion technology
- Boiler operator training
- Other training with a technical focus
- Relevant work experience in administration or a technical profession
- Relevant work experience in burial services
- Relevant work experience in other jobs that involve proximity to the end of life
If you have a forklift license and good mechanical/service technical skills, we also consider that an advantage.
