About the Unit
161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion operates around the clock, year-round. This is to monitor and defend Swedish airspace by producing and distributing authorized air situation, directing air combat forces, and coordinating air combat units. The battalion also has the mobile capability to establish and regroup radio and radar stations with its own resources.
The 161st Air Defense Battalion is looking for someone who wants to contribute to Sweden's air defense, is stimulated by varying tasks, and enjoys taking responsibility. Main Responsibilities
As a communications leader, you will remotely control radio and tactical data links across the country to enable the command of our flying units. You are also responsible for ensuring that communication works both internally and externally from and to the command center so that we can safely lead aircraft. You are also responsible for ensuring that the system meets flight safety requirements, which means you must quickly provide the air command with information and assess whether it is safe to continue directing flights from the facility. You will participate in the daily operational activities of the air combat forces, as well as national and international exercises.
In addition to your main task as a Communications Leader, you will also have the opportunity to participate in projects for the development of our function and our command systems that the Swedish Armed Forces and the defense industry develop together. On a daily basis, you will serve in one of the country's command centers. The majority of the position is carried out during military flight exercise periods, which mainly means daytime on weekdays. Evenings and holidays may also occur within the framework of national operational activities.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Degree from the Specialist Officer Training. OR6/7.
- Normal color vision.
- Driving license B.

DESIRABLE
- Trained command system officer.
- Experience in radio, telecommunication, and data communication.
- Experience with the Swedish Armed Forces' command systems.
- Experience in IT/Tele-related tasks.

Employment type: Permanent position. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.
Employment rate: Full-time.
Work location: Hästveda. F16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve occasional business trips.
Working hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend work may occur during exercise activities.
Start date: By agreement.
Salary: We apply individual salary setting.

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala Garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs combat aircraft in the air and manages the continuous surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations in the country and is an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is undergoing.
