About the Company
Every time you fly, almost anywhere in the world, there is a good chance that GKN Aerospace contributes to your journey. The company's technology and components are used in approximately 90% of the world's aircraft – from smaller and larger passenger planes and business jets to some of the world's most advanced fighter jets. GKN Aerospace also develops and manufactures innovative components for space systems.
GKN Aerospace in Hallstahammar is now looking for a cutting operator for the finishing process in its foundry. Cutting is the first step in the finishing process, where cast details are separated from the casting trees and prepared for further processing.
Your Responsibilities
In the role of cutting operator, you will work with cutting cast details after the casting process is completed. The work involves safely and accurately cutting details from the casting trees and preparing them for grinding and further post-processing. You are an important part of the production chain and contribute to an efficient flow through the finishing process.
The work is physical and varied, involving both machine work and handling of materials. You will work in a team but are expected to take responsibility and rotate between different stations as needed.
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
Working with several different types of cutting machines to cut details from casting trees.
Cutting away branches and rough sections from details in preparation for further processing.
Handling and positioning casting trees in cutting machines, sometimes involving heavier lifting.
Sorting materials after cutting, where the trunk is discarded as scrap and details are sent for grinding.
Working with both larger and smaller cutting machines, including fixture cutting and universal cutting.
The position is initially scheduled for daytime but may eventually transition to two shifts.
Daytime Working Hours: 06:00–15:00 (Monday–Thursday), 06:00–12:00 (Friday)
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who is practically inclined, enjoys physical work, and has an interest in industrial work and machinery. You take responsibility for your work, work safely, and contribute to good teamwork. The role suits you if you enjoy working at a fast pace and want to be part of an important starting point in the production flow of the finishing process.
We would like you to have experience from industrial work or other operator roles, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are also highly valued. You express yourself well in Swedish and have the ability to follow instructions and routines.
Additionally, we see that you have:
Completed upper secondary education
Driver's license B
Practical experience or work in finishing (meritorious)
Forklift license (or the possibility to train if needed)
