Makeup Artist at Malmö Opera
Malmö Opera is the heart and voice of music drama in Skåne. The house was inaugurated in 1944 and is centrally located in the Öresund region, just 20 minutes from Copenhagen. The stage is one of the largest in Europe, and the amphitheater-shaped auditorium accommodates 1500 visitors. We perform classical, modern, and newly written music drama. Malmö Opera has over 285 permanent employees and 500–700 engaged in productions each season. During a season, we produce over 300 performances for the main stage as well as for children's, youth, and touring activities.

Malmö Opera is now looking for a makeup artist for our Wig and Makeup Department for the 2026/2027 season.

Desired Qualifications
- Four-year makeup artist education with wig making, mask making, and special effects, cutting and hairstyling, as well as beauty and character makeup
- Good knowledge of style history
- Ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Good computer skills
- Easy to collaborate and meet people in a professional and secure manner
Responsibilities and Duties
The position reports to the Head of Wigs and Makeup. Working hours vary and are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends.
The work as a makeup artist includes both manufacturing and work during rehearsals and performances. Productions may include both opera and musicals as well as concerts. Work is done in alternating teams, which requires both independence and good collaboration skills.
Each makeup artist is also responsible for the digital documentation of their work.
Profile
We are looking for someone who is positive, communicative, and confident in their professional practice. You enjoy meeting artists, colleagues, and artistic teams, and have a professional and attentive demeanor. The work can sometimes be fast-paced, which means you need to handle a high workload without compromising on quality, precision, or service orientation. You are solution-oriented, flexible, and accustomed to adapting to the rapid changes in the performing arts.
Employment Conditions
The position is full-time from July 28, 2026, to June 11, 2027.
