The Ear, Nose, Throat and Maxillofacial Surgery Department is part of the Neuro-Head-Neck Center (NHHC). We care for patients with diseases or injuries within the ear, nose, throat, and jaw area. We are responsible for the care of both adults and children. Our department conducts both planned and emergency activities. Located at the university hospital in Umeå, our department is a place for collaboration among various professions and a diversity of patient cases. We have close cooperation with other specialists in plastic surgery, oncology, and neurosurgery.

We provide care around the clock, 7 days a week, which means that working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a healthcare assistant with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.

As a healthcare assistant within our operations, you will have a close and significant role in our team. You will work with people in need of advanced care and support within the field of Ear, Nose, Throat, and Maxillofacial Surgery. Your tasks will vary as our patients have a wide range of needs from short to longer care periods and include tracheal care, alternative airways, personal care after major tumor surgery, wound dressings, monitoring of new skin grafts, as well as various sampling, cultures, and venipunctures. We can focus on the right things and communicate a lot with our patients who are often up and about. The position also includes working some shifts in our Day Surgery unit with pre and post-operative care.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a certified healthcare assistant education. Since the title of healthcare assistant has been protected since July 1, 2023, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. Previous experience in care and support work within the municipality or region is an advantage. If you have a genuine interest in supporting patients throughout their care and providing them with security and high-quality care, you are the one we are looking for.

It is important for us that you have good collaboration skills. We value a candidate who can collaborate effectively with different team members and professional groups.

To succeed in the role, you need to be comfortable working independently. We encourage our employees to take their own initiatives and make decisions when necessary. Personal suitability is of significant importance, and the knowledge required for the position will be provided through internal training and learning from colleagues. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written Swedish.
