Sätra Library is a meeting place for all ages – right in the middle of Sätra. Here you will find books, audiobooks, e-books, and magazines, both on-site and digitally. With our e-services, you can easily borrow and read from home.

The library has bright, modern premises with reading corners and study spaces. The children's section offers story hours and activities that spark a love for reading. We regularly organize events such as reading circles and author visits – perfect opportunities to meet, learn, and be inspired.

Through collaborations with schools and associations, we ensure that our services meet local needs. In our unit, we are four employees and a library educator who also works at Andersberg Library. Together, we create activities, programs, and meeting places that make the library a vibrant part of the area. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a librarian, you will work with reading promotion initiatives and implement the library's program activities for both children and adults. You will collaborate with local schools and preschools, welcome classes, and cooperate with both internal and external partners in the district.

You are part of the library team that works with one of the library's prioritized target groups, children and young people. Your mission particularly focuses on youth, where you contribute to promoting language development, sparking a love for reading, and creating opportunities for meaningful leisure activities. This involves collaboration with other actors in Gävle and the surrounding area of Sätra, where you are the face of the operation and help make the library an obvious place for everyone in Sätra.

In your daily work, you will be responsible for common tasks at the library. The work focuses on the residents of Sätra and includes developing the operation through environmental analysis and trying out new ideas. You will also staff other libraries within the unit. An important part is to welcome and lead groups, which requires you to feel comfortable in that role.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in library and information science or another culture-related education that the employer deems relevant.
• Experience working in libraries and within the cultural sector.
• Experience in creating contact and collaborating with children and young people, either in professional life or through voluntary engagements.

It is advantageous if you:

• Have worked in service or customer service.
• Have experience working with digital library systems.
• Have a B driver's license.

As a person, you are secure and accommodating with a structured working method. You have the ability to identify what is most urgent, work purposefully, and use resources in a way that leads to good results. You are relationship-building and find it easy to establish and develop trusting relationships, while also being proactive in social contexts. You are brave and action-oriented, willing to speak up and act when the situation demands it. Your flexibility allows you to adapt to different situations and change your perspective and approach as needed, and you see opportunities in changes. Additionally, you have good communication skills, expressing yourself clearly and concretely, and adapting your language, both verbally and in writing, to the audience and situation.
