As a courier driver, you are responsible for driving and delivering goods using anything from a moped and passenger car to a van or light truck. The tasks may include transporting everything from small shipments like letters and documents to larger packages and freight. The role often involves contact with both private individuals and companies, but the amount of customer meetings varies depending on the type of deliveries you are working with.
To succeed in the job, it is a great advantage if you have a good sense of direction and can choose the most efficient routes, ensuring that deliveries are made quickly and smoothly. Accuracy, punctuality, and a sense of service are also important qualities since you represent the company at every delivery.
Job opportunities exist with dedicated courier companies, logistics firms, and transport companies, but larger businesses, municipalities, and government agencies may also have their own internal courier services where you can work.
