Green Area Worker at the Cemetery Administration in Västerås

About the Position

Together with your team, you will work outdoors in both sun and rain. All employees are based at Hovdestalund and work at one of Västerås' 23 cemeteries. As a green area worker at the Cemetery Administration, you contribute to creating a peaceful and well-maintained environment for visitors. The work is varied and includes caring for plants, maintaining paths, and graves. Of course, we ensure that you have all the clothes and equipment you need. You will also receive a thorough introduction and training on the machinery you will use. Because we care about our employees' health, we focus greatly on ergonomics and using the body correctly. All employees working for at least three months are also offered a wellness grant. Working hours are weekdays 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Some examples of tasks include:

• Lawn mowing, trimming, and edging
• Pruning of bushes and trees
• Leaf clearing in the fall
• Planting seasonal flowers and perennials, often at memorial sites and graves
• Weeding, watering, and fertilizing
• Basic maintenance of graves, such as removing withered flowers and wreaths, and cleaning graves as needed

Qualifications

To thrive in the role, we believe you are a meticulous person who takes responsibility for your tasks and can easily adapt to changing circumstances. You work well with others and are attentive and accommodating in your approach. Finally, we believe you are confident, stable, and self-aware. It is advantageous if you have experience in cemetery work, gardening, or have a green area education. You also have good physical work capacity as the job involves heavy lifting and demanding tasks. A B driver's license is a requirement. You also have good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.

We offer two types of employment. Either you work for 8 months starting in April or 10 weeks starting in June.
