Treatment Pedagogue with Night Shift at SiS Youth Home Fagared

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for youth and adults with substance abuse issues. We operate youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Fagared receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We have departments in Lindome, Öxnevalla, and Gothenburg.

Job Description

Take the opportunity to try an interesting job as a treatment pedagogue with night shifts at SiS Youth Home Fagared in Lindome, Mölndal municipality. The target group is boys who have been sentenced to a criminal penalty under the law on closed youth care. The overarching purpose of the work in these departments is to reintegrate the sentenced youth into society. Daily work is based on individually adapted implementation planning.

The work aims to provide our youth with good care and support around the clock. We are now looking for new employees who can work nights on both weekdays and weekends according to a schedule in one of our departments.

The goal of your mission is to motivate our youth to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment pedagogue, you ensure that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth and clients and are responsible for the foundation of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our routines, and documentation is an important part of your work. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working Hours

The working hours are scheduled for nights - weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values of being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and find it easy to build relationships with youth as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You collaborate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) focused on social/pedagogical treatment work or equivalent education from a university
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing

Below are examples of desirable qualifications that can be used in recruitment:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., probation officer
  • Security guard training
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Migration Agency, e.g., caseworker at the detention center
  • Training in care and support
  • Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young girls, etc.)

Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
