This autumn, Lillåkers School will open. A new resource school focused on autism will open in newly renovated premises in Lidingö, where all students follow the national curriculum. We offer you the opportunity to help build a fantastic operation for students who need that little extra. We are looking for engaged and creative staff for our new school where you will have the chance to make a real difference in every student's life. You will help create environments, operations, and build a team around the students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for a licensed special education teacher who wants to be part of building an innovative and inspiring team. You recognize the importance of differentiated instruction and accessible learning environments that promote all students' education in the best way and are driven to develop sustainable working methods together with colleagues, teachers, and the principal. You will develop teaching together with colleagues, sharing experiences and using a formative approach to support and challenge so that teaching evolves.

We are looking for someone who wants to help establish an operation for students who particularly need assistance to succeed socially and academically in becoming active future citizens. In your role, you will:

  • Teach and support students in need of special support and guide the educators working with these students in elementary, middle, or high school. The work is primarily conducted in classrooms with other staff and students.
  • Work preventively and operationally to meet students' individual needs.
  • Conduct assessments and observations to adapt teaching.
  • Guide and collaborate with other educational staff.
  • Actively participate in the school's student health work and build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.
  • Participate in the school's Student Health Team and engage in analysis of results, evaluations, and planning of interventions, as well as actively work to prevent concerning absenteeism.

QUALIFICATIONS

For the position, you are required to have:

  • A degree in special education or be a special educator interested in working practically with students.
  • Experience working with students with autism.
  • Good knowledge in creating accessible learning environments and adapting teaching to support all students.
  • The ability to work as a mentor and role model for other educators, as well as being a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and other staff.
  • Experience in documenting support measures, conducting investigations for special support, and developing action plans and strategies. You should also have good experience in routinely following up, analyzing together with the Student Health Team, and adapting teaching as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Analytical and goal-oriented with good knowledge of systematic quality work.
  • Good knowledge and experience in using visual support and mentoring colleagues in this work.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working with concerning school absenteeism.
  • Experience in driving reading projects and following up and analyzing reading results.
  • Knowledge of sign communication, signs as support for speech.

OTHER

The municipality applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
