Valåsskolan is a well-functioning school with experienced and skilled educators in preschool class, elementary school, and after-school care. Here, there are many happy children and engaged parents.

Valåsskolan is a F-3 school with after-school care for F-6, as students from the nearby Almåsskolan come to us in the afternoon.

Next school year, Valåsskolan will have 170 students, and we are 25 people who work and thrive together.

Valåsskolan is a 5-minute walk from Lindome Centrum. The commuter train from Lindome runs frequently, taking 18 minutes to Gothenburg Central Station and 9 minutes to Kungsbacka Station.

This year's focus areas are to develop collaboration between after-school care and the school to ensure each child's safety and learning throughout the day. We continue to develop our work with lesson design and differentiated instruction to create accessible learning environments for every student. Additionally, we focus on sharpening our assessment competence through collegial learning and co-assessment. Our activities are characterized by active breaks with organized activities every break, and we often visit our nearby School Forest. Valåsskolan has age-homogeneous teaching, which will grow next school year as we will have three parallel classes in preschool, one class in grades 1 and 2, and two classes in grade 3. We view Valåsskolan as a smaller unit, which allows for large gatherings where the whole school comes together to celebrate and acknowledge various days throughout the year.

The after-school care team is led by a team leader and meets weekly both as a team and department-wise. They work in age-mixed groups.

At Valåsskolan, there is a clear co-creation, and the development work is carried out by and together with the team and the staff based on the development areas that the teams have participated in creating.

We are looking for a new colleague for our school and after-school care, especially a teacher who can teach music for grades 1-3. But you who are a certified teacher in after-school care or on your way to becoming one are also welcome to apply!

You will create a supportive and stimulating environment in collaboration with the children that promotes teaching and learning based on the goals and focus areas of the operation, the students' strengths, experiences, and interests.

You will contribute to a meaningful and inspiring after-school care program by encouraging a mix of activities such as creativity, movement, and outdoor activities.

During the school day, you will collaborate with teachers in class and contribute to creating a functioning day for students during both school and after-school care hours.

Depending on your qualifications, you may also teach in class.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Teaching certification with a focus on after-school care
• Qualification to teach music for grades 1-3 (preferable but not a requirement)
• Even if you are a certified teacher in after-school care without music qualification, or if you are in training to become one, you are warmly welcome to apply!
• Knowledge of governing documents within after-school care
• Good digital skills
• Good knowledge of Swedish, in speech and writing
