Analyst/Researcher at Senior Level - International Security Policy

FOI, the Total Defence Research Institute, is one of Europe’s leading institutes for applied research in defence and security. FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defence and is tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, as well as investigations for total defence and in support of disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. The activities are carried out on behalf of primarily the Government Offices, the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). At FOI, we have about 1400 employees, of which more than 1000 work directly with research and development. Our competencies span the entire field from natural sciences and technology to social and political sciences.

About the Position

As an analyst/researcher in the unit for International Security Policy, you will conduct applied research, analysis, and studies at the request of various clients. The unit's largest clients are the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, but we also work on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other actors within the framework of Swedish total defence. The studies have an applied policy-relevant focus and are conducted on a scientific basis. Travel for work and participation in conferences, both internationally and nationally, may occur depending on the focus of the work. The position may also include a leadership role.

About the Unit

FOI has four locations: Stockholm-Kista, Umeå, Stockholm-Grindsjön, and Linköping. You will be part of the International Security Policy unit, which belongs to the Defence Analysis department, whose office is located in Kista. Read more on our website about what we do.

  • the ability to express yourself fluently in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

FOI places great importance on personal qualities. We want you to have a strong commitment to the work area and an interest in learning more.
