Temporary Position as Building Permit Coordinator

The City Planning Administration is responsible for driving and coordinating the physical planning of Gothenburg. We contribute to creating a sustainable city for current and future generations. Our mission includes responsibilities for strategic planning, detailed planning, land surveying, building permit management, and providing geographical data. Approximately 450 people work within the administration.

The City Planning Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Building Permit Department is organized into seven units, each with its own unit manager. The department consists of building permit architects/handlers, inspectors, administrators, coordinators, supervisory handlers, and housing adaptation handlers. We have engaged employees who want to help shape the city of the future; there is a desire to develop and be challenged. We are now looking for a temporary replacement for one of our coordinator positions!

In the role of coordinator, you will act as the hub of the operation, responsible for ensuring that the unit's work flows smoothly and efficiently. As a building permit coordinator, you have overall responsibility for coordination and progress within a team consisting of architects, handlers, and inspectors. Your main job responsibilities include:

  • Preparation for case handling and follow-up and monitoring of the team's ongoing cases. You will also handle simpler building permit cases.
  • Answering questions from customers via email and phone.
  • Collaborating with other coordinators within the unit to ensure a balanced case distribution and contribute to discussions about working methods, routines, and processes.
  • Performing other administrative tasks related to building permit management.

The position is a temporary role lasting until June 2026, with the possibility of extension.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a relevant university or vocational education, preferably with a focus on building permit handling, and who has experience with similar tasks. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with the building permit process and are familiar with working in digital systems. We would like you to both be able to and enjoy working in IT environments, as much of the work is done digitally.

In addition to your formal qualifications, you are engaged and service-minded and enjoy working collaboratively with others. You are self-assured and have an easy time building trust and good relationships. You have experience leading a group and are good at coordinating, distributing, and prioritizing tasks and responsibilities.

As a coordinator, you lead the team by being inspiring and having a coaching approach. You contribute to creating a work environment where we work proactively, goal-oriented, and with engagement.

OTHER
