The Individual and Labor Market Administration (IAF) includes Work and Support, Children, Youth and Family, Addiction and Mental Health, and Adult Education. We create conditions for learning, improved living situations, and reduced social exclusion through preventive work tailored to individual needs. We provide the right support at the right time and promote self-sufficiency.

Within Work and Support, we work in cross-professional teams at the Labor Market Square, a collaborative platform where actors such as the Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, Region Västernorrland, and Sundsvall Municipality collaborate to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency.

As a social worker in financial assistance, you will be part of a workgroup consisting of social workers, coordinators, and a unit manager. The work is carried out in close collaboration with employment consultants and the teams Reception Unit, Team South, and Team North.

We are working on digitizing and automating the processing procedures to free up time for client-facing work.

We are now looking for 1–2 permanent positions and a longer temporary position for parental leave.

The workplace is centrally located in Sundsvall, within walking distance to trains and buses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of the social worker in financial assistance involves investigating, assessing, and making decisions regarding the right to financial assistance according to the Social Services Act, while also supporting, motivating, and assessing the individual's conditions for self-sufficiency.

The work is carried out through good and close collaboration with other units within the administration, the Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, healthcare, and other partners.

The social workers work with individuals who are, or are at risk of becoming, long-term dependent on benefits, which may be due to various forms of work hindrances such as physical and mental health issues, social problems, cognitive variations, or lack of proficiency in the Swedish language.

We operate in a changing environment and need to continuously develop our work and stay updated on societal changes, legislation, and case law.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a social worker, behavioral scientist, or has another relevant higher education that the employer assesses as equivalent, at least 180 credits or equivalent to 120 points in the old system.

Meritorious:

• MI training (Motivational Interviewing)
• Training in social law
• Previous experience of authority exercise within financial assistance

We are looking for someone who has good writing skills and can document in a clear and understandable manner in accordance with the documentation obligation of the Social Services Act. You should be able to plan, prioritize, and structure your work and have the ability to adapt and adjust based on different situations.
