RSU Södermalm-Skarpnäck is a regional special education group for students who, for a period, need a different context to advance their social development and learning.

We are located in our own newly renovated and purpose-adapted premises on Högbergsgatan in Södermalm and are part of Åsö primary school's responsibility. RSU provides targeted support for all municipal schools from the two districts for students in grades 4-9. The operation has a group for grades 4-6 aimed at students with high problematic absenteeism, currently with 10 students. The other group, grades 6-9, is aimed at students with high norm-breaking behavior, currently with 11 students.

In the RSU group, students are offered a smaller context with an adapted learning environment and individualized schoolwork in smaller groups. Students study according to the primary school's curriculum. A total of 4 teachers (two with special educational competence), 2 counselors, and 1 leisure leader and 1 career counselor work part-time.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our important work to collaborate with each other here at RSU, with the home school, with guardians, and of course with the child/student, to ensure a positive and learning school experience for the student that provides security moving forward. We have a basic setup that is based on clarity and foresight that helps the student to get started with their schoolwork. We have close cooperation with guardians and the home school and a focus on the student receiving tools, and practicing a lot with these tools, to handle previously difficult situations. We work with individually tailored setups combined with social and pedagogical training in groups. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our work with students' behavioral development.

The main task is to be responsible for planning and conducting lessons and break activities during the school day, together with your two other colleagues in the department. You also share some daily tasks such as preparing café time, etc.

The majority of the position is directed towards the student group in grades 4-6 for students with high problematic absenteeism. Some interaction with students from the other department occurs throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • You are an educated and certified teacher for grades 1-7 or 4-9.
  • You have extensive experience working at the middle school level and a broad subject competence.
  • You have very good knowledge and experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities such as students on the autism spectrum and students with dual diagnoses. It is also important that you have experience working in a special education group.
  • It is very important to have self-drive and teamwork skills, as well as being positive, solution-focused, and flexible.
  • You are well-versed in the central content and skills in the new curriculum texts and can base your planning, implementation, and evaluation of the operation on these.
  • You have experience documenting, following up, and evaluating/reflecting.
  • You have good communication with guardians and are used to collaborating with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and habilitation.
  • You are fluent in Swedish in both speech and writing.
