Are you driven by seeing your ideas come to life? Welcome to our exciting and technology-intensive world.

The Flight Autonomy section within the Business Unit Advanced Programs Engineering needs to be strengthened with several employees to take the step towards the next generation of flight systems. This is an opportunity for you who want to take on interesting and challenging tasks where you can collaborate with experienced colleagues and create contacts within large parts of the organization and in collaborations with the rest of the aviation industry.

Your Role

Our section is responsible for flight autonomy, and as a systems engineer with us, you will help develop safety-critical solutions for autonomous flight for both manned and unmanned aircraft. Autonomous flight, autonomous takeoff and landing, contingency management, and collision avoidance are examples of safety-critical system capabilities that you will work with.

Main tasks include:

  • Developing and analyzing system requirements
  • Defining system architecture and design including algorithm development
  • Conducting system safety analyses
  • Planning and leading system integration (simulators, test rigs, flying platforms)
  • Defining verification and validation strategy at the system level
  • Planning and leading verification and validation activities at the system level
  • Coordinating verification activities between different disciplines such as HW/SW/System
  • Tracking requirement coverage, test results, and flight tests for our projects.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is proactive and used to influencing and taking significant responsibility. You have a strong analytical interest and are structured and meticulous. You have a great commitment and are a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and experiences. You thrive in a role where you can build a large network within the entire development organization and create good relationships and collaborations. Since the role may also involve contacts with companies in other countries, you are proficient in English, both spoken and written.

In addition to personal qualities, we believe you have:

  • A master's degree in, for example, engineering physics, aerospace engineering, or computational mathematics. We also welcome candidates with a licentiate or doctoral degree in aerospace engineering, technical mechanics, applied mathematics, or applied physics.
  • Experience working as a systems engineer or in system development.
  • A strong interest in flight dynamics.
  • A strong interest in mathematics and algorithm development (e.g., linear algebra, differential equations, and numerical analysis).
  • Experience in software architecture and programming is a merit but not a requirement.

Please note that we are working with ongoing selection, and the position may be filled before the application deadline has expired.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.

We welcome your application - we look forward to meeting you!
