About the Unit

At the Endoscopy Unit, we perform diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and gastroscopies.

Organizationally, we belong to Specialist Medicine, but we also have close collaboration with ENT, pediatrics, and surgical departments. Each year, we perform approximately 8,000 examinations.

We are experts in our field and meet patients of all ages. It is a fun and practical job that also requires great commitment to the patients who come for their examinations. We work as a team with one endoscopist and two assistants in the room. Endoscopic examinations have been highlighted in recent years and can, in some cases, be an alternative to surgery. There is a constant development to perform better diagnostic and therapeutic measures.

Being an Assistant Nurse in Endoscopy

Our focus is to be professional in meeting the patient. We meet them in a vulnerable and often uncomfortable situation, which requires sensitivity to their needs. We place great importance on providing good information about the examinations so that every patient we meet feels safe and seen.

As an assistant nurse, you will have a rotating schedule, with some days in our cleaning room, where all instruments are cleaned after each examination.

• You are an assistant nurse.
• You have a holistic view and the ability to plan the work so that there is a smooth flow in the unit.
• You enjoy collaborating and see the team as an important part of your work.
• You are not afraid to work with advanced medical technology.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of assistant nurse will become a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of assistant nurse within healthcare and social services.
