Your tasks

As a student employee, you are offered the opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practice and gain valuable work experience. In the role of student employee, you will be involved in the daily work within the department for Children and Youth, investigation, and follow-up. The assignment includes investigating reports and applications as well as following up on granted services within outpatient care, foster homes, and HVB. You will have the opportunity to work independently but with guidance from colleagues. As a student employee in Children and Youth, Investigation and Follow-up, you will handle cases within the framework of the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act on Support and Service (LSS), and the Act on Special Provisions concerning the Care of Young People (LVU).

The Social Administration is centrally located, and Children and Youth work alongside other units that handle authority enforcement. The department for Children and Youth consists of three Investigation and Follow-up units, a Recruitment and Matching unit, and providers within housing and outpatient care. The department is led by a department head along with 6 unit managers. The department's mission is to investigate, decide on, execute, and meet the needs of the target group while driving follow-up, quality, and development work with a focus on children and youth.

The Investigation and Follow-up units consist of several teams of social workers who either investigate reports and applications or follow up on children in state care. Each team is led by a unit coordinator. Within the groups, we take collective responsibility for our cases. This gives us good opportunities to maintain a high quality of our work, to develop our methods, and to collaborate with the user in focus.

You who are applying

Linköping Municipality works together with other municipalities and several municipal companies in the region regarding student employees. The concept is an agreement between all municipalities and Linköping University. To be employed as a student employee, you must start your final year of a bachelor's, master's, or postgraduate program.

We are therefore looking for you who will start your final year of the social work program in the autumn of 2025. It is advantageous if you have experience in authority enforcement and authority documentation as well as experience in social work with children and youth. Since the work involves documentation, it is a requirement that you express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish. A driving license (B) is an advantage for the position.

You have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts, create contacts and maintain relationships, and listen, communicate, and solve difficulties constructively. You listen to different needs and are receptive to others' ideas and have the ability to understand someone else's perspective without taking over the person's feelings. Furthermore, you are confident and have good self-awareness and behave in a way that is adapted to the situation.
