Healthcare Operations Expert

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our main goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is an independent healthcare provider that conducts certain open healthcare services at the primary care level and some psychiatric outpatient care. In the South region (Skåne/Blekinge), nurses, psychologists, and a number of contracted general practitioners and psychiatrists work at the healthcare clinics in our remand facilities and prisons. The regional office ensures that established goals are met and that national assignments and directives are implemented in operational activities. The regional office has several operational experts in various areas of expertise. One of these works with healthcare in the region. Now, the South region is expanding with an additional operational expert in the field of healthcare. The position is located in Malmö, with regular travel primarily within the region, and training and collaboration are included in the role. You will report directly to the Regional Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an operational expert in healthcare, you will identify and develop care processes and working methods towards established goals. You will conduct investigations, prepare decision-making materials, propose decisions on various healthcare issues, and inform about new routines and regulations to be implemented. You will be an advisor and sounding board for managers and healthcare staff in the operations and a strategic support for the regional manager. You will participate in regular collaboration and cooperation at the national level with other operational experts in healthcare in the other five regions of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, as well as with representatives of the healthcare provider.

Examples of job responsibilities include:

  • Development and change work
  • Quality assurance and follow-up
  • Implementation of routines and regulations
  • Annual follow-up of patient safety
  • Advising and mentoring in patient matters
  • Strategic support for managers responsible for healthcare issues
  • Handling and investigation of healthcare matters
  • Investigation, analysis, and proposals for action in the event of serious incidents
  • Responding to IVO reports
  • Investigation and proposals for decisions regarding the placement of inmates in special care units
  • Contact person for procurements
  • Organizing regional healthcare meetings
  • Participating in quality councils for healthcare
  • Operational visits to prisons and remand facilities
  • Participating in the recruitment of healthcare staff
  • Participating in the planning of healthcare facilities during renovations and new constructions of prisons/remand facilities
  • Participating in national supervision

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with several years of experience as a nurse and additional experience in leading and driving operational development, both strategically and long-term, with a solution-focused approach in situations that arise in daily operations. You are confident in your professional role and possess a high level of personal maturity. You enjoy administrative tasks and have experience writing reports or investigations in a concise and understandable manner. You have analytical skills and are accustomed to overseeing complex wholes.

The work requires close collaboration with other operational experts, staff from the headquarters, and managers in the region, which necessitates good collaboration skills and responsiveness. You thrive in a role where you collaborate with both groups and individuals while also independently planning and driving your work forward.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a licensed nurse
  • Has several years of experience in healthcare
  • Has good knowledge of the legislation governing the healthcare sector
  • Experience in leading and driving operational development, for example, in the role of manager, case officer, investigator, or expert
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
  • Has a valid driver's license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in development work within healthcare in larger organizations
  • Experience in planning, analysis, and follow-up work
  • Experience in investigative work and/or project work
  • Experience in broad coordination assignments
  • Experience in personnel responsibility
  • Current experience in healthcare, preferably within a government agency

OTHER

We have high demands on our employees' awareness of security and confidentiality. To work with us, you need to undergo a security clearance in accordance with the Security Protection Act. The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance including a security interview with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security clearance, your personal background and relationships will be investigated from a security perspective. You must be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background. You will receive more information about the security clearance during your job interview.
