Urban Planner Wanted at Hjo Municipality

We are now looking for an engaged urban planner to Hjo Municipality! Our current urban planner is taking on the role of city architect/ planning and building manager. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape the future of Hjo.

The Planning and Building Permit Unit is responsible for the municipality's physical planning and development, both in the city and in the countryside. Our goal is to develop Hjo into a sustainable community and create good living environments for our residents. We work closely together in a competent team and handle exciting and varied assignments in collaboration with political decision-makers.

Hjo is a charming and well-preserved wooden town by the shores of Lake Vättern with about 9,300 inhabitants. Our unique cultural heritage was awarded the Europa Nostra Medal of Honour in 1990. The municipality's operations are organized under one administration with two committees: the municipal executive board and the building committee. Here you will find a workplace with proximity, participation, and good opportunities to influence. We are currently in the consultation phase for our new digital comprehensive plan. You will play an important role in the continued work with the adoption and implementation of the comprehensive plan.

Job Responsibilities

As an urban planner, you will work with physical planning according to the Planning and Building Act, with a particular focus on detailed planning. You will lead project groups and collaborate with colleagues in community building, other municipal operations, as well as external actors and authorities.

In addition to detailed planning, the work may include:

  • Comprehensive planning and investigations
  • Participation in various development projects
  • Presentations before the building committee and municipal executive board

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in physical planning, architecture, landscape architecture with a planning focus, or other relevant education in physical planning.
  • Experience in digital detailed planning production, preferably in Geosecma ArcGIS
  • Good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Other experiences that we view positively include project management and work with municipal physical planning, as well as design skills in urban development and cultural heritage areas.
