Animal Caretaker at Furuvik Park

We are now looking for an animal caretaker at Furuvik Park with a primary focus on our primates. We are searching for someone who is passionate about working with animals and guest interactions. You have a strong interest in animals and nature and want to share your knowledge to enhance our guests' understanding of the animals. Through your engagement and genuine interest in service, you contribute to the overall guest experience and create memories that make them long to return to us.

In the role of animal caretaker, you will primarily work with our large primates, but also assist other animal caretakers with several of our species in the park. In addition to guiding and sharing knowledge about the animals, you will perform standard tasks related to animal care such as feeding, facility maintenance, enrichment, and animal healthcare. Furthermore, we have a strong focus on training for our animals, where you as an animal caretaker will have responsibilities in planning and execution.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with an animal care education and/or education in biology, zoology, agronomy, animal care, or equivalent. You have 5 years of practical experience working with animals, preferably in a zoo, including at least 2 years with large primates. A driver's license (B) is a requirement for this position. Additionally, it is advantageous if you have previous experience working with reptiles.

As an animal caretaker, you will work partially independently, so it is important that you thrive in that role and are willing to take your own initiatives. It is essential that you have the ability to be flexible while also being stable as a person, and you can remain calm even when the work pace is high. Since the job involves telling our guests about the animals, we are looking for someone who enjoys being on stage and speaking into a microphone in front of large groups.

Practical information about the position

This is a permanent full-time position, starting by agreement. A probationary period will apply initially. Work on weekends occurs regularly.
