Workplace Description

The Robot Lab at LTH has several research projects.

One project is the EUROSTAR project "RIACT" which aims to evaluate ready-made computer vision libraries for use in our SkiROS system.

The goal of the project is to evaluate the various standard software packages, i.e., to identify the baseline performance of each package and then integrate each of the methods into a “robot skill” that can then be controlled automatically on the robot via the SkiROS software.

Job Responsibilities

As an assistant, your tasks may vary and should provide insight into the academic world at the faculty where you are studying.

The tasks include:

• Programming image processing in SkiROS
• Evaluation of image processing under different situations
• Implementation of new methods and execution of baseline methods

You will work with various colleagues in the robot lab and participate in project meetings with international partners.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as an assistant is someone who is admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level at the faculty (or related subjects for the joint institutions). The degree must not have been completed.

Requirements for the position are:

• Admitted to the master's program in machine learning, systems, and control engineering
• Very good knowledge of Python and C/C++ programming and applied mathematics.
• Very good knowledge of image processing and machine learning.
• Very good knowledge of modeling and learning from data.
• Good knowledge of English
• Good grades in courses on image processing, artificial neural networks, and deep learning as well as modeling and learning from data
• Very good knowledge of ROS2, SkiROS, and robot programming
• Good knowledge of NVIDIA ISAAC Sim

Desirable for the position is:

• Experience with scikit-learn, PyTorch.

The employment is temporary from 2025-05-01 to 2025-06-30 and is for 50% of full-time.

The employment must not negatively affect the assistant's studies and cannot be combined with other employment. Regulations regarding educational employment as an assistant can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. The employment is covered by the Flexitime Agreement for T/A staff.
