Region Skåne has a comprehensive Enterprise Data Warehouse and is now further developing this into a modern Data Lakehouse. We are building environments for advanced analytics, Machine Learning, and AI. Therefore, we are now looking for a data engineer who wants to make a difference.

The Digitalization IT and MT Department was established in January 2020 and provides support and services to the Skåne healthcare system. The department's mission is to implement a modern and cohesive digital healthcare environment while managing and effectively consolidating today's existing IT environment. We operate from our offices at Medicon Village in Lund, although remote work has become a natural part of our everyday life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a data engineer, you will belong to a unit responsible for integration and information. You will primarily work with data collection and processing in our data platform.

In the role of data engineer, your tasks will include the following:

  • Designing and implementing scalable and robust solutions for data flows (ETL/ELT - extraction, transformation, and loading of data).
  • Building data models and transformations.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting data flows.
  • Optimizing our data flows and transformations.
  • Supporting stakeholders with data exploration to capture relevant requirements.
  • Collaborating with system owners, product owners, architects, Data Scientists, and other relevant roles.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a strong combination of specialist skills and personal qualities that make you an excellent data engineer. Therefore, we see the following qualifications as requirements:

  • A relevant post-secondary education or equivalent training or experience that we assess as comparable.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience working in data warehouse/data lake projects designing and implementing ETL flows for integration, transformation, and consolidation of data.
  • Very good knowledge of SQL and developing in Microsoft SQL databases (T-SQL).
  • Good understanding of performance issues and opportunities for performance optimization.

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with Data Lakehouses, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and DataOps.
  • Good skills in development in C# or Python.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and Power BI.
  • Experience with Biml or other automation solutions.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience working with IT security, encryption, and pseudonymization.
  • Experience in healthcare operations.

The Digitalization IT and MT Department provides support and services to the Skåne healthcare system. The department's mission is to implement a modern and cohesive digital healthcare environment while managing and effectively consolidating today's existing IT environment. The mission includes the management and support of existing and upcoming systems. Medical technology (MT) also works with service, maintenance, procurement, and in-house production of medical technology equipment.

The department is also responsible for the fundamental healthcare information systems and drives the development of future healthcare information. We are about 350 employees in the department and are located at all hospital areas in Skåne, with headquarters in Lund.
