Support Assistants Wanted for Backenvägen 186

The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Backenvägen 186 is a special accommodation within social psychiatry. Eight elderly residents live in the accommodation. We are now looking for 1-2 support assistants for our operations!

Your Responsibilities

You will support individuals with mental and physical disabilities in their daily lives. You provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the person's own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. Common tasks include care and support work, assisting with daily chores, activities, personal hygiene, and medication.

The work requires planning and the ability to be pedagogical and solution-focused as unexpected situations may arise. In daily life, you will work a lot to motivate and encourage the residents. In the workplace, we use a low-arousal approach as there may be threats and violence, primarily verbal.

Working hours are scheduled for day/evening and weekends. Heavy lifting may occur.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or has other education that the employer deems equivalent. We prefer that you have previous experience working in healthcare. It is an advantage if you have experience working with residents in social psychiatry and if you have experience with low-arousal approaches in situations involving threats and violence.

To communicate with residents, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

You are calm and secure, have good self-awareness, and use a low-arousal approach. You work in a structured and professional manner in collaboration with the work team, manager, and other networks. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and the ability to work in a group.

Co-planning may occur between our operations.
