University Lecturer in Speech-Language Pathology - Linköping University
Your responsibilities
As a university lecturer in speech-language pathology, you will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Swedish and English, as well as supervise students in various programs within the Faculty of Medicine. The work includes course design and course responsibility, and may also include program responsibility.
Working in the speech-language pathology program involves interaction with various groups and professional categories both at the university and within healthcare regions, requiring good collaboration skills. As a teacher in the program, an interest in contributing to a constructive learning environment and maintaining a good collaborative climate with students and colleagues is also required.
The speech-language pathology program is in a developmental phase that requires good flexibility and creative thinking with an interest in innovation.
Research in the scientific field of speech-language pathology focuses on speech and language disorders as well as swallowing difficulties in children and adults. For this position, we are primarily looking for someone who is active in pediatric speech-language pathology.
You are active in the research community, participate in departmental activities such as seminars and workshops, engage in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.
You actively contribute to the university's development work. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission. Collaboration in education occurs through planning, organizing, and delivering quality education in interaction with actors from the surrounding community. Collaboration in research occurs through disseminating, making accessible, and utilizing research.
Your work includes following national and international developments in your subject area and other societal developments that are relevant to your work.
You are flexible and able to navigate different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of the workgroup, collegial working methods, and social community. Being present and active is seen as essential for you to perform your tasks effectively and thrive in the work community.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, as well as demonstrated pedagogical skills, or other professional skills that are relevant to the subject matter and responsibilities of the position.
For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on scientific competence first, pedagogical competence second, and other skills that are assessed as equivalent third.
Regarding pedagogical competence, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is a degree in speech-language pathology.
- Particularly meritorious is pedagogical development work related to flexibility and innovation.
- Teaching experience in the speech-language pathology program is meritorious.
Regarding scientific competence, the following will be assessed:
- A requirement for the position is scientific work in the field of speech-language pathology.
- Particularly meritorious is scientific competence in pediatric speech-language pathology.
- Documented scientific activity using quantitative methodologies is meritorious.
Documented competence in collaboration within education and research is also meritorious for the position.
Other skills that will be assessed for this position include clinical experience and good collaboration skills.
The applicant must demonstrate the ability to teach in Swedish.
Your workplace
The Department of Sensory Organs and Communication (SOK) consists of several research groups working in various specialized areas. These areas include:
- Conversations with individuals with communicative disabilities: Research focusing on improving interaction with others for individuals with various types of disabilities.
- Speech and language disorders in children: Studies investigating and developing methods to assist children with speech and language problems.
- Applied hearing research: Research aimed at improving hearing abilities and developing new hearing technologies.
- Clinical and ultrastructural studies of eye tissues and vision: Detailed studies of eye tissues to understand and treat various vision problems.
Over 20 individuals are engaged in both research and education at the department. These staff members contribute to medical education and speech-language pathology education at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
