For many decades, Gävle Municipality has placed great value on conducting good crime prevention work. Since the Act (2023:196) on municipalities' responsibility for crime prevention work came into force in 2023, the municipality has taken an even broader approach to crime prevention efforts. Among other things, a new crime prevention strategy has been adopted, along with new collaboration structures and methodologies. We place great emphasis on ensuring that crime prevention work is cause-oriented and knowledge-based.
The role of Crime Prevention Strategist is located in the Governance and Support Sector within the Security and Preparedness Unit. The unit currently employs a security manager, deputy security manager, preparedness and security strategists, as well as the current crime prevention strategist.
The unit's main task is to strategically support the municipality's operations in security-related issues, but operational tasks also occur.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In your role as a crime prevention strategist, you will be responsible for continuing to develop and coordinate the municipality's crime prevention work. You will bear the primary responsibility for the municipality's overall situation regarding crime, conduct analyses, and hold a central role in the development of the municipality's crime prevention priorities and action planning. You will also be responsible for coordinating crime prevention issues, and the position thus places high demands on your ability to collaborate and build relationships.
An important part of the work as a crime prevention strategist is also to plan and implement knowledge-enhancing initiatives such as training and workshops, as well as to support the municipality's various operations in crime prevention issues.
In the Security and Preparedness Unit, you will have close access to competent and supportive colleagues, who, despite the unit's differing main focuses, are always available to discuss thoughts and ideas. QUALIFICATIONS
The position of crime prevention strategist places high demands on your ability to lead and drive complex tasks. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is confident in their academic knowledge, has the ability to translate theory into practice, and has an eye for identifying and finding solutions to complex challenges and problems.
To succeed in the position, we also see that you are structured and analytical with the ability to see larger contexts and foresee the long-term consequences of actions, as well as having the ability to work calmly and methodically even in intense situations.
Given the complex nature of the function, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Formal Competencies
We are looking for someone with an academic education in criminology or another post-secondary education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good administrative skills and can work in the Office suite as well as handle various technical systems. Furthermore, you have a very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and can adapt the message to the intended target audience. You promote collaboration and teamwork and have an easy time motivating and engaging others.
It is meritorious if you have the following experiences:
- Crime prevention work.
- Experience in the justice system.
- Experience of employment in a municipality and/or public administration.
- Experience working with operational development within public operations.

OTHER
The position is classified in a security class, so a security review with a background check will be conducted before employment.
Service in the municipality's crisis management function may be included.
Service in the municipality's preparedness organization (official on standby) may be included.
