GIS Developer with a Focus on FME

Do you have ideas for the future and are you driven by challenges? In Haninge, you will develop alongside supportive colleagues who want to make a difference today. Right now, one of the most ambitious transformation efforts in our municipality's history is underway. We are building a new city, about 20 minutes from Söder. Join us on our journey.

Welcome to Grow with Us

The Department of Geographic Information belongs to the Urban Planning Administration and has 26 employees distributed across three units: Municipal Land Survey Authority, Mapping & Measurement, and GIS.

The mission of the GIS unit is to provide geodata to Haninge municipality's operations, businesses, and residents. We do this, for example, by providing systems and map data through internal and external web maps, building automations and 3D models, performing GIS analyses, data deliveries, and producing special maps. The GIS unit also serves as a service and expert function for the municipality's other operations regarding the use of digital maps and geographic information.

We have a comprehensive GIS platform, primarily based on OpenSource components. FME Flow is our core for automating data flows and processing, both to keep our web maps updated and in the form of self-service services such as data extracts and analyses. We also use FME in much of the daily GIS support for the municipality's operations.

The GIS unit currently consists of 10 people: three GIS engineers who work closely with various operations, five GIS developers with partially different focuses, one GIS system administrator, and one unit manager. We work with clear responsibilities and roles, but also with redundancy and collaboration in focus. The group is characterized by team spirit, commitment, and high competence.

Our GIS developer focusing on FME is moving from the Stockholm area and needs to be replaced.

Your Mission

The role of the GIS developer aims to increase the utility and use of GIS and geodata in Haninge by managing and developing Haninge's GIS platform and data flows for geodata.

The GIS developers have the role to:

  • Assist with technical expertise for geodata for, for example, procurement.
  • Create conditions for operations to create, manage, and maintain operation-specific data.
  • Adapt work methods and technology to changing legal requirements and regulations (e.g., open data, digital detailed plans, GDPR, etc.).

We continuously review each employee's specific roles and responsibilities to meet the needs of the operations as well as the employees' competence and development.

Currently, the GIS developer focusing on FME has the following main responsibilities:

  • Management responsibility for FME Form and FME Flow
  • Management and maintenance of FME scripts
  • Create new/develop FME scripts for the management of the GIS platform and to meet the needs of the operations

Together with other employees in the GIS unit:

  • Handle ongoing matters regarding, for example, updating our web maps, setting up QGIS projects for editing, performing GIS analyses, handling larger data deliveries.
  • Contribute to continuous operational development

To apply for the position, you should have:

  • High general knowledge and interest in GIS and geodata
  • Good level of Swedish in speech and writing
  • Documented competence and experience from similar tasks

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from work with Origo, QGIS server, metadata management, CAD/BIM, Python, and SQL
