School Social Worker for Elmsta, Norrsund, and Grisslehamn Schools

About the Position

We are looking for a school social worker for Elmsta, Norrsund, and Grisslehamn schools in Norrtälje Municipality. The position is a full-time temporary position (100%). It is about a 10-minute walk between Elmsta and Norrsund schools, and about 15 minutes by car to Grisslehamn. You will have a rotating schedule for different days at each school and need access to your own car to travel between the schools.

Job Description

The interventions of the student health team are primarily preventive in nature. You will work with guidance and consultation for staff, classroom and group work together with teachers, and supportive conversations with children/youth aimed at supporting their schooling or providing assistance outside of school. You are an important part of the schools' well-being and safety work, as well as addressing school absenteeism, and you will participate in the work with the teams. Your work will also include conducting school social investigations at the request of the principal and social investigations prior to admission to primary school. Some training of staff and collaboration with various partners is also included in the assignment. The role involves collaborating with other professionals within the school and external actors. Our schools have a well-developed student health work focused on preventive and promotional efforts. We believe that student health work begins in the classroom, where the professionals in student health make their best contributions.

Qualifications

For this position, you are required to have:

• a degree in social work or equivalent education
• experience working as a school social worker in primary school
• good knowledge of the school's mission and governing documents
• good experience working with digital systems
• strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing

About the Workplace

The Älmsta principal's area consists of three schools located in Älmsta and Grisslehamn: Norrsund School (grades 7-9), Elmsta School (grades F-6), and Grisslehamn School (grades F-6). The schools are situated close to nature and a beautiful environment. Together, the three schools have approximately 290 students. We have a close collaboration with the schools in the principal's area regarding teaching, leadership, and professional development. The schools are led by a principal and an assistant principal, and a joint student health team meets once a week. Together with the school nurse, special education teacher, school psychologist, and school management, we form our joint student health team. The school is close to Älmsta center with access to excursion opportunities while being in a quiet residential area with large open spaces and play areas.
