Nurse for Day Surgery Unit at the Surgical Clinic in Växjö

The Surgical Clinic in Växjö offers specialized care in various surgical areas and is divided into several smaller teams, including gastroenterology, urology, breast and endocrine, vascular, sexual counseling, and smoking cessation. We are now looking for a nurse for our day surgery unit. The unit is staffed by two nurses and is part of the surgical clinic. We are open on weekdays without weekends and open at 06:45 when the first patients arrive for their surgeries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse in the clinic's day surgery unit, you play an important role in preparing patients for surgery. You ensure that planned preparations have been completed, provide the patient with the right assistance in the preparations that take place at the hospital, and meet the patients in a calm and reassuring manner, as many of our patients often feel a bit nervous and anxious on the day of surgery.

In addition to preoperative preparations, you also handle patients who are to undergo examinations or procedures in radiology, such as various types of biopsies, nephrostomy placements, and angiographies. These patients are prepared and cared for by us. Day care patients who come for injection and infusion treatments as well as blood transfusions are also taken care of here. The work involves varied tasks and close collaboration with colleagues in the clinic to ensure the best possible care for the patients.

You will:

• Coordinate and collaborate on patient work with colleagues in the clinic, surgery, departments, radiology, and with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
• Perform administrative tasks such as daily planning of operations.
• Carry out standard nursing tasks such as monitoring clinical parameters, injection and infusion treatments, urinary catheterization, wound dressings, and blood transfusions, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

To apply for this position, you must be a licensed nurse, preferably with several years of experience in nursing. We place great importance on your personal suitability, especially your ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to be flexible. You should be confident in your role as a nurse. You should enjoy working independently but also be able to contribute to strong collaboration with colleagues and other units. You work solution-focused and thrive in a role where you have the opportunity to plan and structure your work with the patient in focus.
