Chef at the Food Unit in Vänersborg Municipality

The Food Unit is part of the Community Building Administration.

We have well-educated and committed staff who work to serve good, nutritious, and varied food to the municipality's primary schools, preschools, and care units as well as high schools. Within the Food Unit, there are 23 production kitchens, 22 reception kitchens, and within elderly care, there are 2 production kitchens. In total, we are about 125 employees. A meal has several purposes; it should meet our needs for nutrition and enjoyment, but the social interaction around the meal is also important. The Food Unit works to ensure that the food is of good quality, varied, and that guests receive a pleasant welcome and can eat in a pleasant environment.

Description

We are looking for chefs who are passionate about cooking and service. As a pool chef, you will work in both preschool, school, and elderly care kitchens where you are responsible for the meals served to our guests.

As a pool chef, you face new challenges every day. It is very important that you can prepare and handle special diets, allergies, and have knowledge of vegetarian, climate-smart, and organic diets.

Responsibilities

You are responsible for planning, purchasing raw materials, receiving goods, preparing meals, preparing special diets, handling dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and daily documentation of self-control. You should follow the guidelines of the Food Agency and Vänersborg Municipality and also work to reduce food waste. We place great emphasis on having good communication and providing good service to the customer.

In your daily work, you should contribute to following guidelines and achieving set goals. We work to ensure that meals are safe, sustainable, and climate-smart. You work independently and sometimes in a team that collaborates and helps each other with the tasks in a kitchen.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained chef and has a few years of experience. It is important that you have knowledge of nutrition, special diets, food hygiene, and that you are computer literate as all orders are made digitally. As a person, you should be able to take responsibility and be quality-conscious, with a willingness and ability to find solutions when needed. You find it exciting to work with people of all ages. You should be able to communicate in Swedish both orally and in writing.

You are flexible, responsible, service-oriented, and have a knack for collaboration. You are independent and should be able to work in all our kitchens. You always strive for the highest quality and best service. Your motivation is a genuine interest in food, and you see opportunities in all situations while keeping the guests in focus. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Conditions

Hourly employment 0-100%. Working hours are during the day from Monday to Friday. There may also be opportunities for longer substitute periods.

Information

To work as a chef, a background check is required according to the Education Act (2010:800).

You request a background check at polisen.se before employment in:

• Preschool, primary school, and equivalent school forms.
• After-school care and other educational activities.

Administrative staff, cleaners, school caretakers, and kitchen staff must also show a background check before employment.
