Operations Engineer at Lovö Water Treatment Plant
Do you want to work towards making Stockholm the world's most sustainable city? We are Sweden's largest water and waste management company, taking responsibility for the well-being of Stockholm residents and the environment in everything we do, both now and for future generations. With us, you will work on socially important issues that matter for both people and the environment.
Lovö Water Treatment Plant currently produces drinking water for approximately 700,000 people in the Stockholm area. We are embarking on an exciting journey to renovate and expand our water treatment facilities to ensure sustainable and secure water production for the future. Therefore, we are now looking for a qualified and experienced operations engineer for the continued work. Here, you will work in a dynamic environment where technology and sustainability are in focus, while playing a key role in developing and securing Stockholm's water supply – both today and for the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an operations engineer, you will be responsible for the operational management of Lovö Water Treatment Plant and ensure that the drinking water production meets the required quality and quantity. The work involves continuous monitoring and optimization of the facility's processes, troubleshooting during operational disturbances, and adjusting parameters to maintain stable and efficient production. You will collaborate closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure long-term and sustainable operations while contributing to the development and improvement of processes and routines.
Your workplace will be at Lovö Water Treatment Plant, beautifully located in Ekerö municipality by the shores of Lake Mälaren.
Main responsibilities of the operations engineer:
- Operationally optimize the plant's production based on current circumstances.
- Take overall responsibility for operations as well as planning and coordination for shutdowns and startups.
- Control the process both in the SCADA system from the control room and locally in the facility.
- Issue work permits and work preparations.
- Ensure that necessary process chemicals are available for uninterrupted operations.
- Be responsible for keeping the operation log updated and documenting important events.
- Initiate and report work orders in our API system.
- Initiate, manage, and investigate operational deviations and occupational safety incidents.
- Inform responsible parties and readiness during special events.
- Contribute to and participate in development and project work as well as planning of investment and maintenance measures.
- Participate in our important systematic occupational safety work.
The work is shift-based. We use a 2-shift model including day shifts. Flexible hours may be used within certain time frames during day shifts if the operations allow. The position includes on-call duty, and to meet the response time, you need to live nearby the plant. A personal vehicle is required to accommodate the shift work hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
We believe that you have a good ability to analyze the balance in the production process and feel confident in making decisions under time pressure. Additionally, you enjoy continuous improvements, have a solid technical background, and like to make contacts both within and outside the organization. As a person, you are resilient, unpretentious, and have a good ability to collaborate.
To succeed in this role, you have the following qualifications:
- Higher education with a relevant focus for the position, or a high school education with several years of experience in process and production. Previous work at a water treatment plant is an advantage.
- Ability to handle rapid changes in the process.
- Experience with control systems.
- Experience and interest in change/improvement work.
- Good IT skills.
- Can express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.
In your position, you will work with classified information. Security clearance and background checks will therefore be conducted in connection with employment. Having a Swedish personal identification number and a B driver's license is a requirement for this position. We apply a 6-month probationary period.
