One of my assistants is moving on to new challenges after 3.5 years with me. Since she won't be leaving until the summer, we can be very flexible with the start date. The most important thing is that it feels right for everyone. We want you, as an applicant, to intend to stay for at least a year, preferably longer.

You will start with an introductory schedule and then get your own schedule. During the summer, from June to August, we have a more varied schedule as everyone should get time off.

This means that even you who are applying for this position will be offered some time off in the summer. Therefore, we would like you to indicate in your application how much you wish to work during the summer months and if any week is particularly important for you to have off.

From mid-August, this position will be approximately 75% with your own schedule.

Unfortunately, I can not hire anyone who is allergic to pets or uses tobacco. This includes substitutes such as white snus and e-cigarettes!

It is about as difficult for me to briefly summarize this position as it is for you to make a complete presentation of yourself in a letter. This is because the job as someone's personal assistant is based on the person's life, and as you hopefully understand, my life is as diverse as yours. Still, I will try to explain who I and my friends/assistants are looking for...

To begin with, my assistants have the following shifts: Full days 08:00-20:00, morning shifts 5–7 hours, and afternoon shifts 5–6 hours. The wakeful night shifts are 12 hours, from 20:00 to 08:00. It is therefore important that you have a good understanding and insight into what this entails. You should be able to switch your day and night schedule easily and be able to sleep during the day to come to me fresh and rested in the evening. I am thus dependent on my assistants around the clock even if you never work night shifts. If you do not have previous experience with night work, you are of course welcome to apply, just remember that a night job does not mean that your day gets 24 hours.

The introduction starts with day shifts even if you wish for both night and day shifts on your schedule. This way, we get to know each other well and you learn as much as possible about my life. It is also nice for you to get to know my other friends; everyone should be able to collaborate.

Who are you?

To begin with, you need to be self-sufficient and secure in yourself. We also expect that you can handle simple household chores and can help and support me in my daily life.

It is not a requirement that you have previous experience as a personal assistant, although it is seen as an advantage. Your attitude and understanding of the profession and everything it entails are absolutely the most important. A position as my personal assistant involves, among other things, commitment, initiative, great patience, a friendly demeanor, flexibility, and good teamwork skills.

Building a relationship does not happen overnight, so I am looking for someone who truly wants to do their best for me by getting to know me and understands that this is the key to success.

It may sound harsh, but my requirement is that you, as an applicant, are driven and responsible but also come with your own initiatives regardless of my daily condition. It can vary greatly how much I can handle due to my severe epilepsy, and you should therefore be able to take your own initiatives and be flexible when plans need to be rearranged.

In the summer, I love to swim in my pool; it is truly a favorite! I also enjoy everything from cooking & running with my marathon wheelchair, concerts, to museums and the gym to give you some clues.

A position as a personal assistant is varied, but you can think of your role as consisting of three parts;

1. You help me with all basic needs with great respect for privacy and dignity.

2. You are my physical support, which means it is an advantage for you if you care about your health and enjoy exercising in your spare time.

3. You are my motor in everyday life and, together with your colleague, are responsible for planning activities and routines.

These three parts of your professional role should be permeated by the fact that you are my friend because that is how the collaboration in my group works best and how I want to be treated. I am just over 20 years old, and my group of friends is therefore quite young (20-30 years). My life swings quickly, but my friends are careful to always share themselves regardless of the conditions or obstacles I encounter. They are my friends and see me for who I am behind my difficulties, and I want to complement that with you who think the same way and do not see me as your patient. I require a high work ethic, which for you as an applicant means that you are reliable and treat me, your colleagues, and your profession with respect. You are also kind and calm and understand that your contribution is vital for me; your understanding of flexibility and variation in my life creates the best conditions for both of us.

You are expected to master the Swedish language fluently in both speech and writing!

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you need to have a lot of patience and a great understanding that my life is different and comes with various challenges at times!

Do you feel that you match the expectations? Then I believe you have a good chance of becoming a friend in my team. From me, you will always receive a collective agreement via Fremia as long as you are over 18 years old - it is a requirement to work as a personal assistant.
