University Lecturer in Nursing

The Department of Health and Care Sciences is nationally and internationally leading in person-centered care, which permeates education, research, and innovation. The department is organized into academic environments consisting of interdisciplinary profile areas: Care for chronic conditions; Diagnostics and care for acute and critical conditions; and Learning and leadership for health professions. The administrative staff of the department is organized into an administrative unit. In the academic environments, the combined expertise is integrated to promote quality in education, research, and collaboration.

The department offers professional training for nurses, radiographers, midwives, and specialist nurses. The basic education for nurses and radiographers leads to both a professional degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree. The midwifery program and specialist nursing programs with various specializations lead to professional degrees in combination with Master's degrees. Additionally, commissioned education and independent courses at an advanced level are offered, providing opportunities for further studies up to a Master's degree in one of the department's main areas: nursing, radiography, and health pedagogy. The department also conducts doctoral education in health sciences.

The position is primarily located within the Clinical Training Center (KTC) at the Department of Health and Care Sciences. KTC is a resource for students at the Sahlgrenska Academy and is a simulated care and rehabilitation environment where students undergo method teaching, simulation, and teamwork.

Subject Description

Within the discipline of nursing, knowledge is developed about health, a good life despite illness or disability, and about peaceful and dignified death. Nursing is based on needs and problems related to health and illness and daily life, but also on people's resources and ability to manage problems. In nursing, it is not illness/disability itself that is the focus, but people's reactions and interpretations of their illness. Central to nursing is a close relationship between nurse, patient, and relatives.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, in a pedagogical and structured manner, planning, teaching, examining, and evaluating clinical skills, simulation-based teaching, and inter-professional learning for the department's programs, as well as continuously working on pedagogical development. Additionally, the position includes having methodological responsibility and course responsibility in courses at the department where teaching at KTC is conducted. Due to the clinical nature of the teaching, parts of the job responsibilities can advantageously be placed within healthcare through collaboration agreements to maintain clinical competence and to stay updated on the clinical aspects of teaching. Teaching and supervision may also be relevant in other sections of the department, as well as joint assignments such as supervising thesis work and being a contact teacher during clinical placements. The work is carried out in close collaboration with course responsible teachers, clinically active supervisors, teaching assistants, and other staff at KTC. Administrative tasks related to educational activities are included. Other tasks may also occur, and the content of the position may change over time.

The position includes actively working to achieve the department's goals and operational plans, which includes actively contributing to the development of the academic environment. Furthermore, all employees are expected to participate in planned joint meetings and activities organized by the department.

The applicant must teach in both Swedish and English.

Qualifications

Qualifications for employment as a teacher are specified in the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations.

Completed higher education at least at an advanced level in what the employer deems to be a relevant area, demonstrated pedagogical skills, as well as a nursing degree and Swedish nursing license.

Proficiency in Swedish and English in both spoken and written form is a requirement.
