Reception, Support and Placement Area, Placement Unit 1

We are now looking for you, who want to complement our wonderful team! We are looking for someone with a few years of experience in public authority work in the field of children and youth, and high competence in investigation and follow-up work. Welcome to us and the opportunity to make a difference for our foster care children!

Placement Unit 1 is part of the Children and Youth Authority department and belongs to the reception, support and placement area. The unit currently has about 25 employees, and in total, we are about 80 people working with our foster care children. We have two sister units, Placement Unit 2 and 3, with which we work very closely.

Within the unit, we have different roles.

  • Our social workers follow up and investigate the care of children/youth.
  • Our permanent foster care social workers and emergency care group recruit, investigate, and supervise our contractors.
  • Our two team leaders supervise social workers and foster care social workers in their daily work.
  • We also have qualified caseworkers who are co-caseworkers in more complicated cases.
  • In addition, there is a unit manager who is responsible for all employees' work environment, the unit's budget, and our jointly set goals for our operations.

Our work has a significant impact on the lives of children and youth; the feeling of creating value and making a concrete difference is palpable. Many of us are experienced and have worked for several years in the field of placement. We work with long-term placements and, in addition to ensuring legal security as our primary guideline, we focus on building trust and creating relationships with our children/youth/contractors and biological networks. We have flexible working hours and the possibility to arrange your working hours at another location. We are located in fresh premises at Bolandsgatan 10a.

Your Mission

As a social worker, you are primarily responsible for following up on the care of the placed child/youth. We work with public authority towards individuals. You will meet our placed children and conduct home visits to their foster homes. You will hold child conversations based on the child's age and maturity, write considerations/reviews of care, and investigate needs and make authority decisions (based on delegation) regarding the placed child.

We work with children/youth placed under both the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Provisions for the Care of Young People (LVU), and you will make assessments and analyses regarding the children's needs based on these and other relevant legal frameworks.

Working with the biological parents of the child/youth and networks is also a significant part of your job, where questions about visitation may be part of your tasks. Other tasks such as contract follow-up and contact with other authorities (e.g., the Social Insurance Agency and the Region) are also part of the job.

Travel across the country is a natural part of our work, and although we can often plan our days, there is great variation in our work.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work and a few years of experience in public authority work in the field of children and youth. You are accustomed to documenting, following up, writing investigations, and working with various digital tools. You have high competence in investigation and follow-up work and are confident in all parts of the case management process. Experience with the child-centered approach (BBIC) and Signs of Safety is an advantage.

To succeed and thrive in this role, you need to have a good understanding of the Social Services Act. It is an advantage if you also have good knowledge of the investigation methods and assessment instruments used within social services. A driver's license and good oral and written skills in Swedish are required.

As a person, you are calm and composed in various situations and have the ability to focus on the right things. You can easily make decisions based on available information and act accordingly. Furthermore, you are someone who listens well and adapts your communication style. You will have many different contacts in this role, so it is important to have good collaboration skills and be flexible with the ability to adapt and find solutions. You also enjoy independently organizing, planning, and creating structure in your work.

We look forward to receiving your application!
