We are looking for a Project Manager for Railway and Civil Engineering (bridges, rock and tunnel) for the Swedish Transport Administration. The stationing location is flexible between Östersund, Härnösand, and Sundsvall.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The assignment is located in the Civil Engineering unit, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of bridges, tunnels, rock slopes, and noise barriers in the Northern region. The maintenance work includes assessing the condition, planning maintenance measures, performing preventive and corrective actions, and carrying out reinvestments.

We are now looking for a project manager in the railway sector in the Northern region during 2025, with the possibility of extension as described in the options below.

The work includes managing both urgent, corrective, and preventive maintenance for railway bridges, road and pedestrian/cycle bridges over railways, railway tunnels, rock cuts along tracks, and noise barriers along busy railway tracks, as well as procuring and managing design and construction contracts.

As a project manager, you will be part of a team of technical specialists, contracted consultants, and contractors. You are responsible for overseeing, directing, and following up on projects and will report to project managers within the Swedish Transport Administration. You contribute motivation and inspiration within the project team to create a good working environment.

Responsibilities

The role of project manager includes, but is not limited to, the following:

In consultation with the client, distribute, implement, and follow up on project work in accordance with governing documents. Together with the project organization and central support resources, initiate, prepare, and be responsible for the implementation and follow-up of the project regarding time, cost, content, quality, safety, work environment, and environment. Establish necessary timelines for the project in collaboration with other project management resources. Prepare calculations and budgets according to established procedures for the project. Be responsible for establishing necessary agreements with external stakeholders and property owners. Ensure that necessary operational meetings are held, such as construction meetings, financial meetings, technical meetings, and design meetings. Lead periodic project meetings. Perform the work in collaboration and under the direction of the client. Follow up and drive projects on time, cost, and content. Ensure that norms, construction requirements, and regulations (general or client's) are followed by the designer and/or contractor. Provide technical advice. Communicate with the public as well as with municipalities and other authorities.

Requirements (IMPORTANT, mandatory)

Ability to express oneself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Experience working in project groups where coordination has been important. B driver's license. At least 3 years of work experience as a project manager in the relevant technical area (project manager General Railway). Work experience must not be older than 10 years. Knowledge of laws and regulations as well as standards and guidelines in the relevant area. The consultant must have completed BASÄSKYDD. Requirement of at least 3 years of work experience (in a managerial role as site manager, project manager, or construction manager) from comparable assignments to the current assignment. Comparable assignments refer to experience in the construction industry within maintenance of civil engineering structures (e.g., bridges, rock/tunnel). Must have completed training to function as the client's construction work environment coordinator, BAS-P and BAS-U. Certification according to TDOK 2018:0371 APV, at least according to the requirements in step 1.0. Have relevant practical experience and good knowledge of construction law in one or more of the areas AB/ABT/ABK and AMA.
