Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transportation.

The Stockholm West area in the picturesque Ekerö municipality includes the open prison Svartsjö and the partially open women's prison Färingsö, as well as the detention center Färingsö. About 220 employees and ten managers manage, lead, and develop the operations that accommodate approximately 250 inmates. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or wood and crafts industry and packaging/assembly. They also run an ecological farm with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. The two prisons are just a stone's throw from each other and can be reached by bus or car. At both facilities, you can park for free in our staff parking lot.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården conducts some open health and medical care, which means that all prisons and detention centers have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, general practitioners and psychiatrists are available about once a week. As a nurse, you will be part of a team with other nurses who together have their own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also assess which applicants should see a doctor. You will work with both somatic and psychiatric health and medical care, participate in medical consultations, and administer medications. You will also support other staff in assessing the health status and well-being of inmates and assist in acute situations such as illness and self-harm.

Working hours are daytime, Monday - Friday.

We will need full-time substitutes during the period from week 24 to week 34. We prefer that you can work the entire period, but even if you cannot work the whole period, it may still be of interest. There may also be opportunities to work as a temporary employee both before and after the summer substitute period.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is reliable, secure, and stable in both your professional role and as a person. You have a high ability to collaborate and work well with others even in acute situations. You take personal responsibility and work independently but are also aware that you are part of a team. You can communicate in an advisory manner with non-medical staff. In your professional role, you make correct assessments and priorities and meet people in distress with calm and stability. You are structured and meticulous, even in administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally with your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:
• A valid nursing license.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

It is advantageous if you have:
• Work experience in the profession.
• Relevant work experience or further education for the job, for example in psychiatry, addiction treatment, emergency care, or outpatient care.
• Previously worked with incarcerated patients.
• Language skills, in addition to Swedish.

In this recruitment, the selection process will begin after the application period has ended, and interviews will be held at the prison shortly thereafter.
