The Swedish Maritime and Transport Historical Museums (SMTM) has won the award 'Sweden's Most Modern Authority 2023'. The authority operates and develops the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Maritime History, the Vasa Museum, the Wreck Museum, and the Railway Museum. SMTM is a friendly workplace with an efficient and responsible collaborative organization characterized by curiosity and trust. Within SMTM, everyone works with the maritime and transport historical cultural heritage with the vision of broadening people's worldview through knowledge, experiences, and engagement. The authority has been environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 since 2009 and also aims to inspire others to act for a sustainable future.
About the Position
In an inspiring work environment, you will work with hospitality and sales of the combined ticket for the Vasa Museum and Wreck Museum. You will play a central role in meeting visitors and, together with other staff at the museum, be the face of the organization. The work is very varied and involves selling entrance tickets in both Swedish and English, as well as participating in the preparation and execution of various public activities. You will work outside the entrance of the museums and patrol around the museum buildings to ensure you reach potential visitors. You will inform and answer questions about our exhibitions, the museum's subject area, and provide information about ticket types and operations.
You will primarily work outdoors in teams of two per shift. You will cycle and walk between the Wreck Museum and the Vasa Museum, work outside the museums, and be active in sales to optimize visitor numbers. You will have various types of materials, both digital and analog, to assist you.
Your Skills and Experience
You should have experience and familiarity with sales, preferably in a public setting. You should have good knowledge of Swedish and English; additional languages are considered an asset. Experience in service occupations such as retail or hospitality is also seen as an advantage. We consider it a plus if you have experience in active sales and an interest in our subject area.
Your Qualities
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. You are passionate about sales and service and have a strong ability to prioritize our visitors and potential visitors. You show great commitment, are solution-oriented, and are willing to take your own initiatives. You also have a good ability to listen and see each visitor and understand the importance of good hospitality. Your ability to collaborate is strong, and you are willing to help with various tasks. To thrive, you need to be proactive in your approach and comfortable with taking the initiative to reach out to Swedish and foreign tourists.
More About Us
The Wreck Museum is a new museum that has opened in Boat Hall 2 on Djurgården in Stockholm. It is a museum and a hub for maritime archaeology, spreading knowledge about the maritime cultural heritage found on the seabed of the Baltic Sea. Using digital technology, the museum brings stories to the surface while allowing the wrecks to remain on the seabed where they are best preserved. The museum is captivating and welcoming - blending surface with depth, light with darkness, and providing insights that can be so transformative that you will forever see the sea with new eyes.
