We are looking for someone who wants to work with area protection and nature conservation management based in Östergötland.

You are needed in our work to implement the parliament's established forestry and environmental policy goals as well as the environmental goal of Living Forests. You will be part of a team with other experienced forestry consultants in nature conservation and area protection.

Your Responsibilities

To protect biodiversity in forest landscapes, the Swedish Forest Agency works with area protection and nature conservation management of forest environments with high natural values. In Östergötland, there are many forest environments with high natural values of varying character, ranging from primeval-like mixed coniferous forests, heathland-dominated pine forests, and centuries-old previously grazed oak forests. To preserve and protect these types of forest environments, the Swedish Forest Agency works on creating biotope protection and nature conservation agreements.

You will be part of the team working on the establishment and management of our area protections primarily in Östergötland, but it may also be relevant in a larger geography. The work is carried out in close collaboration and understanding with landowners.

Your work will include assessing management needs and planning measures to preserve and develop high natural values in protected areas. This is done by developing management instructions and agreements with contractors or landowners. Inspection and follow-up of management efforts are an important part of the work, as well as good communication with involved parties. Your work will take place both in the field and in the office.

Other tasks occurring in the district may also be relevant, such as advising on nature conservation management and support management within a so-called NOKÅS support for areas with high natural and cultural values.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a scientific or forestry university or college degree. In your education, you should have a focus on forestry biology, conservation biology, ecology, or equivalent. Relevant work experience is an advantage. We would like you to have experience in advisory work and/or experience in nature conservation management. We value good knowledge in IT/GIS.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. Our staff needs to have both integrity and a willingness to collaborate. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing and can easily engage in dialogue with people in various situations. You are responsible and can work independently towards set goals in a structured manner.

A driver's license is required, as well as good capacity and experience working in the field.
