Your New Job

Piano, piano, piano. And a bit of singing, a bit of songwriting, a bit of guitar. That’s what the children in Östersund want to learn at the Culture School.

So now the Culture School is looking for two new colleagues who can teach just that. We have two temporary positions for the school year 25/26, starting in August 2025. One is a parental leave replacement, and the other position may likely lead to a permanent employment. Full-time or part-time, depending on how much you want to work.

We are looking for someone who loves working with children and youth, mostly in small groups, but sometimes also in full classes or individually. The positions include piano teaching in groups and individually. Furthermore, teaching in El Sistema (orchestra school for primary school) together with several other colleagues, some singing instruction if you master it, pop, songwriting, and music production if you are skilled in those areas, and participation in other projects that the Culture School has. This includes the First Graders' turn (grade 1) and the Second Graders' choir (grade 2). It is important that you are good at collaborating with the best colleagues in the world, with children with different needs, and that you are also good at coming up with ideas and initiatives. We work in subject teams and work teams. The teaching is mostly in the afternoons, but also during the day when we have the orchestra school El Sistema.

The Culture School's teachers teach in schools throughout the municipality, so it is beneficial if you have a B driver's license and access to your own car.

As you can see, we are happy the more competencies you have, but the most important thing is that you can teach piano and that you have experience working with students in groups. It is an advantage if you have previously worked in primary school.

Music university or other education that the employer deems equivalent. B driver's license.
