About the role

As a System / Performance Test Engineer at Appgate, you will be part of a creative, cross-functional team in cybersecurity and play a critical role in ensuring the high performance, scalability and reliability of Appgate SDP solutions.

Their Gothenburg office serves as the innovation center for the SDP product - a security solution that is transforming network access for organisations worldwide. With a rapidly growing international presence, Appgate currently employs around 450 people, including 160 software engineers from over ten different countries.

Responsibilities

The role includes designing, implementing and running performance tests to validate the resilience of Appgate’s Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments:

• Develop and execute detailed performance testing plans and strategies for Appgate SDP components, including Controllers, Gateways and Connectors to ensure they meet or exceed predefined performance benchmarks.
• Use various testing tools and methodologies to simulate real-world scenarios, measure system throughput, latency and resource utilisation and identify bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with development teams to understand system architecture and design and to provide feedback on performance issues and optimisation opportunities.
• Analyse test results, generate performance reports and work closely with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve identified issues.
• Stay up to date with new technologies and testing tools that can enhance the performance testing process.

Your profile

We are looking for engineers who are passionate about software development and cybersecurity. Ideal candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of work experience in performance testing/engineering, preferably with a focus on cloud-based and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols and experience with network performance testing tools.
• Proficiency in performance testing tools and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of cloud architecture.
• Knowledge of virtualisation platforms and containerisation technologies.
• Python programming skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Bonus qualifications

• Familiarity with Appgate SDP or similar Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions.
• Proficiency in Golang and/or C programming languages is a strong plus.
• Understanding of security best practices and secure coding techniques.
