Sámi School Board is looking for a caretaker

The Sámi School Board is a government agency with its office located in Jåhkåmåhkke, including a school principal, controllers, HR, and case officers.

The Sámi school is an educational form equivalent to primary school, providing education from preschool class to grade 6. The foundation of the education is the Sámi culture and the Sámi language according to the curriculum for Sámi schools. The Sámi School Board also operates preschools by agreement with the respective municipality. Additionally, the Sámi School Board has Sámi preschools after agreement with the municipality. The Sámi School Board has operations in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sámi School Board organizes distance education in the Sámi languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sámi education.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks will primarily consist of assignments within caretaking at the Sámi schools in Jåhkåmåhkke and Váhtjer. Work-related travel within and between locations will be part of the job. Part of the position will involve a pool service in the kitchen and, in some cases, supporting the after-school program. The kitchen tasks mainly involve preparing meals in a large kitchen for children and students, transporting food, and other related tasks within the large kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative and has work experience in caretaking and kitchens, and who wants to work with the Sámi School Board. To succeed in your role as a caretaker, you need to be good at finding solutions, be outgoing, service-oriented, and positive. As an employee in a Sámi workplace, you are expected to have good knowledge of Sámi culture and Sámi community life. Knowledge of the Sámi language is an advantage. We would also like you to have several years of experience in property maintenance and renovation. Experience in large kitchens is also preferred.
