THE PASTRY SHOP

We are currently looking for an assistant pastry chef to join our team of six pastry chefs and one head pastry chef. We are looking for someone with a great passion for the pastry profession and previous experience in leading and coaching a team.

Our pastry shop works closely with several of our other kitchens and is responsible for a variety of assignments, such as afternoon tea, plated desserts for events with up to 1500 guests, and classic desserts for the veranda's popular team buffets. The pastry shop also occasionally works on special orders such as cakes and chocolate creations.

The focus of the pastry chefs is to combine quality and creativity to create an extraordinary experience, regardless of the size of the order or occasion.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the assistant head pastry chef, you are expected to take significant operational responsibility for production to ensure smooth operations. You are the right hand of the head pastry chef when it comes to menu planning, scheduling, and coaching and supporting the team.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Creativity and Innovation: You are expected to create unique and high-quality desserts and pastries for both restaurants and events. The focus is on creativity, innovation, and staying updated with the latest trends in the industry.

2. Leadership and Personnel Responsibility: The role includes shared leadership and coaching of a team of pastry chefs. You should be a mentor and motivate the team to achieve creativity while supporting the head pastry chef in scheduling, staffing, and evaluating team members.

3. Organization and Collaboration: In addition to actively participating in production, you will be involved in organizing work in the pastry shop and collaborating with other departments to create fantastic guest experiences. Purchasing, ordering, and inventorying goods are also part of the tasks, along with ensuring that the department adheres to hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).

Working hours are scheduled according to a rolling schedule with work approximately every other weekend.

For the right person, it will be both developing, rewarding, and above all, fun. Since our kitchen consists of many different departments, there are good opportunities for you to both develop and grow. Working hours vary and are scheduled for daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Furthermore, we also see that you have:

  • At least 6 years of experience as a pastry chef, preferably with experience in menu development and leadership.
  • International experience and formal culinary education are meritorious, especially if you have worked in five-star establishments.
