Design Engineer at JTEKT Column Systems AB

JTEKT Column Systems AB is a leading system supplier that develops, produces, and sells adjustable steering columns, telescopic shafts, and valves to the top manufacturers of trucks, buses, and agricultural machinery in Europe. We are the market leader for steering columns for heavy vehicles in Europe, a position we have achieved through innovative product development and efficient production. With approximately 160 employees and a turnover of 45 MEUR, we are part of the global JTEKT group, a world-leading system supplier to the automotive industry. We operate according to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

Responsibilities

As a Design Engineer with us, you will be responsible for developing products according to customer requirements and contributing improvement suggestions based on your experience. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Development of product concepts and detailed product design based on customer requirements and specifications.
  • Participation in meetings and activities to ensure continuous improvements.
  • Management of D-FMEA, product specifications, test specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Support to test and measurement labs with testing, analysis, and reports.
  • Creation of documentation for prototypes and support to production during design and improvement work.
  • Communication with customers and suppliers to ensure technical solutions and quality.

You will work closely with other functions and contribute ideas and solutions in teams to develop innovative and cost-effective products.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • At least a 3-year university degree with a technical focus or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in design, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Experience working in projects.
  • Solid knowledge of Catia V5 and preferably SmartTeam or similar.
  • Knowledge in mechanics, and preferably basic knowledge in mechatronics or electronics.
  • Experience with calculations and simulations as well as IATF 16949 is a merit.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
  • Good IT skills.
