Rheumatologist at the Rheumatology Section

As a rheumatologist at the rheumatology section, you are part of the medical clinic at Kalmar County Hospital.

The rheumatology section is responsible for outpatient and inpatient care for patients with rheumatic diseases and is available for consultations regarding the needs of the hospital and primary care. The focus is on outpatient activities, but there is a flexible number of inpatient care beds available in the medicine department 14 if there is a need for inpatient care. The medical day care activities are conducted at the clinic, where intravenous treatments are provided among other services.

The section has a close and good collaboration with other professionals at the clinic and has access to paramedical expertise. There is also a well-functioning collaboration with a rheumatology-interested orthopedic specialist. The rheumatology section employs four specialists and two resident doctors. Within the medical team, there is good collegial support and a team spirit that permeates the work in the section, as well as ongoing development work. The educational climate is good and staff turnover is low.

For several years now, there has been an established nursing clinic for patients with certain rheumatic diagnoses and stable disease.

The rheumatology section conducts training for medical students during term 10. Often, there are also 1-2 observing training doctors from primary care or from the medicine, infectious disease, or geriatrics clinics at the clinic. Consequently, the position includes educational assignments where you are expected to supervise medical students and resident doctors. The job responsibilities include participation in internal medicine on-call duties based on qualifications.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a specialist in rheumatology. You are independent, knowledgeable, and proactive. Competence in internal medicine is an advantage, as well as experience in teaching, research, and medical development work. You should have good pedagogical skills and be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and good collaboration skills. Specialist doctors who meet the criteria for a senior physician position at the county hospital will be offered this.

The medical clinic is the largest clinic at the county hospital with around 350 employees. Specialized care is provided in all medical subspecialties. The catchment area covers approximately 160,000 inhabitants. Since 2019, formalized medical education has been conducted at the county hospital and within the medical clinic. The clinic's doctors form the basis for all student education.
