The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

About Us

The radiology department is part of the Diagnostic and Service area within the Hospitals in the West and is present in all four hospitals in the administration.

In addition to radiology, the area includes the VGR SV Pharmacy and Medical Technology. The radiology department within the Hospitals in the West has a broad examination panorama where we provide service to both the hospitals' operations and primary care. Due to our excellent availability, we also assist other hospitals in performing examinations and, as time permits, reviewing them.

We are divided into two medical teams, one for Kungälv Hospital/Angered Local Hospital and one for Alingsås Hospital with shared management of Högsbo Local Hospital. Each medical group has its own leader. Since we believe in the benefits of close dialogue with our operations and short decision-making paths, we have chosen to primarily work within our respective hospitals. Naturally, we help each other when needed, learn from one another, and collaborate when it benefits patients and operations.

Our Operations

Our operations include acute and elective general radiology, on-call evening and weekend (external review via a private entity at night on both weekdays and weekends), rounds/MDK, development of the operations, continuing education, and training of resident physicians/trainees. You will be placed at Alingsås Hospital but will also work with Högsbo Local Hospital and other hospitals within the Hospitals in the West. We are flexible regarding different working hours and active research.

This is What You Will Work With

As a resident physician in radiology, your daily tasks will include image review in conventional X-ray, CT, and MRI, as well as performing fluoroscopy and ultrasound examinations. On-call duties as described above are included in the position. As a resident physician with us, you are expected to take responsibility for your development into a specialist physician. You will receive good collegial support and will be an important part of the workgroup. Parts of your training will be conducted at a university hospital. In close collaboration with our ST study director and your supervisor, you will develop an individual development program to become a good radiologist and meet the National Board of Health and Welfare's goals for specialist competence.
