TELECOMMUNICATION TECHNICIAN - RADIO

The Swedish Armed Forces' Telecommunications and Information Systems Command (FMTIS) Implementation Unit Mitt has personnel in Enköping, Falun, Arboga, Kungsängen, Berga, and Visby. We are now looking for 2 telecommunications technicians with a focus on Radio (Marine Radio & Aviation Radio) for our department in Berga. In the role of telecommunications technician with us, you will be an important part of our execution organization and contribute to delivering results that have significance in a larger perspective and are of great importance to the Armed Forces' command capability.

About the organization

FMTIS has five units that perform maintenance of the Armed Forces' command systems within IT and Telecommunications, and the Implementation Unit Mitt is one of these units. The units work with the maintenance of the Armed Forces' telecommunication networks, radio, sensor, surveillance, and field systems, as well as maintaining a variety of IT systems. You will be part of the Tele Section of the Implementation Department in Berga, where several technicians work with different focuses.

Main responsibilities

The tasks consist of performing corrective and preventive maintenance on radio systems and command systems within the military region Mitt. The work also includes performing commissioning, updates, inspections, documentation, and providing technical support within your technical area. Collaboration with other units and functions within the Armed Forces, as well as supporting colleagues in other technical areas, is a natural part of the job.

The work involves travel both on land and at sea in archipelago environments. Some tasks are performed in Masts and Towers, which requires a medical examination and subsequent internal training within the Armed Forces for work at heights (climbing).

You will primarily work with your immediate technical team, and the position offers a great variety in a stimulating and significant operational area.

Qualifications

  • Three-year upper secondary education with a focus on EL/TELE/TECHNOLOGY or equivalent knowledge that can be assessed as equivalent.
  • Good ability to understand instructions and guidelines in Swedish and English.
  • Driver's license B (manual transmission).
  • Approved medical examination for Masts and Towers (performed in connection with probationary employment).

Meritorious

  • Professional experience in telecommunications and radio communication.
  • Good knowledge of network technology and data communication.
  • Knowledge of measurement technology and troubleshooting.
  • Driving licenses, Nautical qualifications, Driver's certificates.
  • Completed military service or basic military training (GMU).
  • Familiarity with the Armed Forces' equipment.
  • Experience in technical installation.

You have the ability to follow technical instructions and descriptions and are keen to deliver a good final result regardless of the task. We prefer candidates who want to develop and further their education in their technical area. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Start date

The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.

Other

The position is titled Telecommunications Engineer and the place of employment is Berga. Business trips and overnight stays in other locations may occur. Training for Masts and Towers will be conducted during the probationary period, which requires an approved medical examination.
