Data Scientist for the Digitalization Unit

The Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) is seeking a driven data scientist for the Digitalization Unit. The Digitalization Unit is part of the Department for Operational Support, which aims to ensure a supportive operation in balance with the core business needs.

The Digitalization Unit is tasked with developing operationally relevant digital solutions to meet the development needs within IVO's various operational areas. The unit has overall responsibility for new development, maintenance, and support.

The Digitalization Unit consists of four agile development teams with high ambitions, working with modern methods and tools characterized by innovation and new thinking.

The unit is now looking for a data scientist to be based at IVO's office in Stockholm.

Job Responsibilities

As a data scientist in the Digitalization Unit, you will be a key player in the analytics tools team. The team works on method development within data science and analytics and develops and manages tools that facilitate IVO's employees in using and creating analyses. The team is also responsible for the authority's analysis and development environment based on open-source tools.

As part of this team, you will help drive a transformation towards a more data-driven operation at IVO, focusing on risk-based priorities and effective supervision. The environment is built on Linux RHEL servers running applications in Docker containers, including RStudio used by the authority's analysts. In addition to working on the development of methods and analytical tools, you will also be responsible for both the management and development of this environment in collaboration with the IT unit.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree in computer science, systems science, statistics, mathematics, or another technical education deemed relevant by the employer.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience as assessed by the employer.
  • An understanding of container technologies such as Docker to deploy, manage, and scale applications in a Linux environment.
  • Good knowledge of Linux operating systems, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques to extract insights from structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in IT and information security work in both data science projects and Linux systems, including user permissions, encryption, and access controls.
  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git to manage codebases, track changes, and collaborate with other team members.
  • Knowledge of SQL for querying databases and scripting languages like Bash to automate tasks in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with IVO's operations and the authority's supervisory areas.

To succeed in this role, you need to be driven by finding technical solutions to both small and large problems and want to work at the intersection of data science, IT, and business development. You have a good ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems that arise in both data science projects and Linux systems, using analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to find effective solutions. You should also want to stay updated with the latest advancements in both data science and Linux technologies. We continuously work with new methods, approaches, and tools to achieve the best results, which means you need to be flexible. As a person, you are an unpretentious and responsive team player who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively towards the authority's goals and priorities.

What can IVO offer you?

We offer meaningful work in a knowledge organization. You will be part of a dynamic and stimulating environment with good opportunities to grow in the role and develop. The position is full-time, based at IVO's office in Stockholm. The employment is permanent with a six-month probationary period, starting as soon as possible.

Application

Welcome with your application and attach your CV and cover letter where you introduce yourself and describe why you believe you are the right person for the position. Grades and other documents will be included in a possible interview. Work samples may be conducted during the recruitment process. Mark your application with Dnr 08286/2025, apply by April 3, 2025.
