The Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) is seeking a driven data scientist for the digitalization unit. The digitalization unit is part of the operational support department, which aims to ensure a supportive operation in balance with the core business needs.
The digitalization unit is tasked with developing operationally relevant digital solutions to meet the development needs within IVO's various operational areas. The unit has overall responsibility for new development, maintenance, and support.
The digitalization unit consists of four agile development teams that have high ambitions and work with modern methods and tools, characterized by innovation and new thinking.
The unit is now looking for a data scientist based at IVO's office in Stockholm.
Job Responsibilities
As a data scientist in the digitalization unit, you will be a key player in the analytics tools team. The team works on method development within data science and analysis and develops and manages tools that facilitate IVO's employees in using and creating analyses. The team is also responsible for the authority's analysis and development environment based on open-source tools.
As part of this team, you will help drive a transformation towards a more data-driven operation at IVO, focusing on risk-based priorities and effective supervision.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, mathematics, or another technical education deemed relevant by the employer for the assignment.
- At least two years of relevant work experience as assessed by the employer.
- Proficiency in statistical methods and machine learning to extract insights from structured and unstructured datasets.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Proficiency in using version control systems like Git to manage codebases, track changes, and collaborate with other team members.
- Knowledge of SQL to query databases.
- Understanding of container technologies like Docker to deploy, manage, and scale applications in a Linux environment.
- The ability to create clear and understandable visualizations using tools like Shiny and PowerBI.
- Experience with IVO's operations and the authority's supervisory areas.
To succeed in this role, you need to be driven by finding technical solutions to both small and large problems and want to work at the intersection of data science and business development. You have the ability to work closely with the business, understand its needs, and translate these into data-driven solutions that create value. You have the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems, as well as communicate effectively with both technically skilled and operationally focused individuals. You also have the ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in data science. We continuously work with new working methods, techniques, and tools to achieve the best results, which means you need to be flexible. As a person, you are an unpretentious and attentive team player who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively towards the authority's goals and priorities.
What can IVO offer you?
We offer meaningful work in a knowledge organization. You will be part of a dynamic and stimulating environment with good opportunities to grow in the role and develop.
The positions are full-time based at IVO's office in Stockholm. The employment is permanent with a six-month probationary period, starting as soon as possible.
