About the Job

As a nurse on Ward 24, you will be medically responsible and lead your colleagues.

You will be responsible for documentation and medication administration. The job involves a lot of withdrawal observations and treatments. A large part of your work consists of somatic care, with elements of emergency care as well.

About the Workplace

Ward 24 in Varberg is Halland's only department for addiction care, which means we work with both psychiatric and somatic care related to addiction and substance abuse. Here, withdrawal observations and treatments are conducted, and we establish social planning for discharge. We who work here have a holistic view of the care of our patients. We collaborate extensively with other agencies, both internally and externally. Here, we work together in teams, listen to each other, and believe that everyone's opinions are valuable, regardless of profession. We enjoy a fast-paced environment and have the opportunity in our daily work to make a real difference for our patients.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse, whether you are new to the profession or have previous experience. A specialist education in psychiatry is desirable but not required. Previous experience as a nurse is an advantage.

Here you will have the opportunity to develop a broad competence as you will work with both psychiatric and somatic care. We want you to be responsive to the patient's needs, enjoy collaborating with others, and want to help develop our department. We have varied care loads, and you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, but you also thrive when things are a bit quieter with plenty of time for conversations and other activities with our patients.

You are a person with a passion for your profession. You adapt your way of working and communicating according to the situation and each patient's individual needs. Since we work cross-professionally, it is essential that you have a developed ability to collaborate in a team. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Our Offer

We believe that a safe start is crucial for you to thrive with us. Therefore, you will receive a longer introduction tailored to you.

As a newly hired nurse with us, you will also be offered a personal mentor and group supervision with other newly hired staff. The mentorship follows a structured model consisting of eight meetings of 60 minutes each, where you, in dialogue with the mentor, will have the opportunity to develop a professional approach, deepen your knowledge, and skills in psychiatric nursing. The goal of the supervision is to strengthen and develop your professional role through increased self-awareness.

As an employee, you will also be offered several training sessions, where Self-Protection Training, CPR, Fire Safety, and Suicide Prevention Training are mandatory. Region Halland offers paid further education in psychiatry to our basic-trained nurses. It is essential that you find a balance between work and leisure, which is why we always offer a full-time position but with the possibility of working less. It is also possible to exercise during work hours if done together with patients.
